Chapter 7 Controllers

3. Text Entry Objects

Text entry objects allow the operator to input numbers and text through the keyboard. They work like the text-entry fields in property sheets and the Display Attributes window. Text entry objects can send values to analog or discrete channels, or channels that have character-string values. The 'label type' property is not used for text entry objects, neither are the high and low display limit properties, nor is the 'text format' property.

At run-time, the text-entry object has all the characteristics of text-entry fields, such as the time out capability and the text-entry menu. See Chapter 9 for more information.
