Channel Archiver

The EPICS Channel Archiver is a channel access client that automatically records process variables (PV) as a function of time and then stores them to disk. It can be configured to sample at a periodic rate or it can post a channel access monitor on PV. The data can be viewed at a later date using several tools. In particular, the CGI web interface allows users from off-site to retrieve beamline configuration and telemetry data from the time of their run. A description and demonstration of its implementation at sector 15 will be presented.

Outline:

  1. Introduction to the Archiver.
  2. Archive engine setup and operation.
  3. Data Storage.
  4. General retrieval tools.
  5. CGI/Web data-retrieval tool setup and operation.
  6. Implementation at Sector 15.
