Subject: What is "No link support table or entry?

I have a test that works with EPICS 7 but fails on 3.16. It produces this message:

not ok 405 - dbPutField("do3.B1F", 6, ...) -> 0x1f50015 (No link support table or entry)

What does that mean?

It happens with mbboDirect using "Async Soft Channel" in simulation mode when writing to an ao record, but not when writing to a longout record.
