Great, thanks for taking the time to build this and run the tests.

These error messages are expected, they occur because we have tests to
check that our APIs properly flag error situations, and some of those
APIs also send error messages to stderr. The tests themselves are not
failing (they all say "ok"). We usually try to silence these messages
while running the individual test programs, but that isn't always
possible (or we just didn't get sufficiently annoyed by those particular
programs yet).
