This is hardly something to be embarrassed about. The RELEASE and
CONFIG_SITE files are a long running and reliable source of mistakes.
It has long been on my TODO list to add a "make debug" target to print
some useful troubleshooting information, including the search path
derived from RELEASE, and the list of '-include' s.
