I merged my 3.17 branch with the merge-approved development branches
into the core structure last night and fixed one iOS build issue, and
currently everything is green.

I know Michael disagrees with me over the dtypedset branch, but with
that possible exception I think the current 7.0 branches are feature
complete for 7.0.1 (-rc1 or maybe -pre1).

Ralph (and anyone else reading who understands the issue), please
express an opinion on this merge proposal:

My time available to work on the release will be significantly reduced
for the next few weeks, but won't be zero.
