As I am already asking stupid questions....

The mbbi/mbbo records implement enums.

Is there a way to set the default value in the database using a choice

string?

DOL does not work for the obvious reasons, VAL is an epicsEnum16 that

the parser does not accept strings for.

Sure, an additional stringout that has the choice string in its VAL and

points to the mbbi/o with PINI=YES.

Does not work well with autoSaveRestore, when you want a specific

default in case the aSR data does not exist.

Any other ideas?
