I've just modified the wording of the release notes and added some more 
comments to the configure/os/CONFIG_SITE.Common.linux-* files.  I will not 
change the default setting though, newer Linux versions *do* work with that 
default and I don't want to link every binary we build on such systems with 
other libraries unnecessarily.

The 6.7 was correct when I originally wrote it, but I added the 6.8 support 
well before the -pre1 release came out (that's the version we're going to be 
using here at the APS).  I corrected the release notes a few days ago, adding 
a caveat that we do not support vxWorks on SMP systems yet (that's going to 
need a fair bit of work).
