Eric developed another patch for this which can be found on the bug report
page at https://bugs.launchpad.net/epics-base/+bug/551909 and I subsequently
applied this to the R3.14 branch in Bazaar.  I don't add all bugs to the Known
Problems page, but I have just added this one since it causes a crash so your
users will need a fix, which I think I have condensed to the minimum fix
required although it's not the same.
