my attendance of the EPICS meeting

Bob and Mathias,

I regret that I am unable to attend the EPICS meeting in Hamburg due to my
needing an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) repair surgery for my knee which
is scheduled for this April 3rd. Yes it was sledding (albeit some airborne
sledding) that I was doing when I initially clobbered my knee. After my
surgery, I will be away from work for two weeks with my leg strapped to the
continuous motion machine 8 hours a day. Needless to say, the surgeon is
advising against my traveling to Europe during the recovery period.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at ICALEPCS!
