Hi,
I don't know how you feel about the Borland build not working so far with
R3.14.9? I, for one, am feeling some guilt primarily because we have
supported the Borland compiler with past R3.14 releases.
I could fix this problem, but from another perspective there are available
for free cygwin, mingw, and MS tools for native win32 builds, and Borland
hasn't made a new release of their free compiler since the year 2000. Soon
that will be seven years ago which actually is quite a long time in computer
science years (computer science years run slightly faster than dog and cat
years btw). My guess is that if you are willing to buy the Borland compiler
that that version will include a standards compliant compiler.
Does CEBAF still use HPUX? Apparently JAERI (and probably also KEK) servers
are HPUX? Do they have modern HPUX versions with modern C++ compilers?
It's unclear to me how often the VMS C++ compiler is updated. Maybe more
often than one might initially guess given that the same compiler is I
suspect available for both VMS and ULTRIX?
PS: I noticed today that maybe Java, as released by Sun, is available now
only for Windows, Linux, and Solaris? Do I understand that correctly?
Presumably other commonly used Unix variants (such as BSD Unix) must get the
source and self support?
PPS: I think I understand that WRS supports currently as development hosts
only Linux, Solaris, and Windows.
Jeff
