Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System

There will be an EPICS core developers' meeting on the Monday before the
June EPICS meeting. Bob and I think we probably need a full day for
this, although Eric will be busy in the morning with an RTEMS SIG
Workshop, so he'll only be there for the afternoon. If you're coming
please arrange your travel plans so we can start the meeting at 9am on
the 12th.
We will try and find a conference room that is somewhat secluded from
the main meeting in order to discourage random walk-ins. This is
intended to be a working meeting to discuss short- and medium- term
development plans for changes to Base; we need to shift our focus from
that of previous meetings back to enhancements that are attainable by
evolution from the code on the current R3.15 CVS trunk.
One topic I'd like to discuss is Benjamin's patch set to make
dbGetLink() asynchronous - described at
http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/core-talk/2006/msg00040.php
and
http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/core-talk/2006/msg00047.php
I haven't looked at this properly yet myself, but the idea of accepting
patches from the community is the sort of approach that we should
encourage for future enhancements to Base, which means we need to
seriously consider Ben's contribution.
