Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System

Gentlemen,
You have both recently made available patches that build EPICS for a
Linux-based ARM processor, for which I thank you. We haven't committed
either of your sets of configure/os/CONFIG* files to CVS yet, and I
don't think there's time to get them into the R3.14.8 release at this point.
I suspect that it should be possible to combine your efforts into a
single target architecture, and I wonder if I could get the two of you
to work on a patch to that effect, which I would like to include in a
future R3.14.9 release of EPICS. I would prefer to use the generic name
'linux-arm' if a common target is possible; then if there are some
optimizations that can be done for xscale processors then you might want
to look at how we currently support a generic 'linux-x86' target and the
optimized targets 'linux-386', 'linux-486', 'linux-586' etc.
