V4 Standard Types is now out of date. Just look at V4 Design: epicsTypes.
Actually my Standard Types document isn't really out of date (I deleted
the things from it where we changed our minds), it just got superceeded
by Marty's epicsTypes document. However the discussion of the
requirements for epicsString in the Standard Types document is
definitely still true.
I would be slightly happier about the V4 development process if we tried
to write down the explicit requirements that we are trying to meet like
I did there with epicsString, so I've renamed the Standard Types
document into "Requirements for Standard Types" and will try to put some
more discussion into it today. I'll be on vacation from tomorrow until
the end of next week, so after today don't expect to see changes in
there from me (but you all should add to and edit those requirements in
my absence).
