Call for Nominations for Compton Award
Nominations are being sought for the 11th Arthur H. Compton Award, which will be presented at the 2013 Users Meeting. This year, nominations are being collected online.
Nominations must include the following:
- A brief (one page or less) nominating letter containing a description of the work for which the award is proposed.
- A statement describing the significance and impact of the work.
- A short proposed citation for the award plaque.
- The names of two individuals who will provide supporting letters. (It is the responsibility of the nominator to request the supporting letters and have them sent to Susan Strasser under separate cover at firstname.lastname@example.org.)
To submit, have these documents as .pdf, .docx, or .doc files ready to upload before you begin (you cannot return to the form at a later time) and use this online form to submit: http://www.regonline.com/Compton_Award.
Complete packages will be provided to the selection committee, which consists of representatives from the APS Scientific Advisory Committee, the APS Users Organization, and the Partner User Council.
All nominating information due Friday, March 1, 2013.
Awardee(s) will be announced Friday, March 15, 2013.
ABOUT THE AWARD
The Arthur H. Compton award was established in 1995 by the APS Users Organization (APSUO) to recognize an important scientific or technical accomplishment at the Advanced Photon Source.
