Prepare for Experiment

Requirements and recommendations to ensure that you can start your experiment promptly.

Arrange for Staffing
Bring enough team members to fully utilize 24-hour beam time. All team members must have advance approval to enter Argonne.

Arrange for Shipping
Follow the correct shipping procedure for your sample/material type and comply with Argonne National Laboratory/U.S. Department of Energy requirements for shipping and handling. Contact your host beamline before sending shipments.

Complete Safety Form
Complete an Experiment Safety Assessment Form. Allow at least 7 days before your beam time begins for experiments that present minimal hazards common to all beamlines. Additional time is required for higher levels of risk and for safety protocols new to the APS.

Arrange for Services and Supplies
Work with the beamline staff to arrange for needed Argonne and APS services, as well as supplies available on site.
