| Gate Valves are located along the beamline and regulate
the vacuum within the beamline tubes.
To open a Gate Valve, pull down on the
small silver rod that is located under the right overhang of the
valve, as in the photo.
When the rod is pulled, it takes a few seconds for
the valve to open. The white indicator that was previously on "Close" will
then move to "Open." See photo of an open gate valve.
To close a Gate Valve, push the silver
rod back up. The white indicator that was previously on "Open" will then move
