Subject: APS network problems & GUP system

To General User Program beamline contacts:

As you may be aware, APS network systems are experiencing sporadic technical
difficulties today, and these are affecting the GUP system. The general user
proposal deadline will be extended at least until Monday, August 4th at 12:00
noon CDT to compensate for this problem. More information will be provided as it
becomes available.

Users for whom the Monday deadline presents a problem may fax proposals to the
User Office as a temporary measure, e.g., if they will be traveling.
