Hello Everybody, Recently we have had a number of cases of international shipments being sent incorrectly. I would like to remind everybody that international shipments (hazardous or nonhazardous) MUST be sent through building 46, ANL Shipping. These shipments are considered exports. There is a Shippers Export Declaration (SED) that must go with the shipment and is to be filled out by ANL. Regardless of who the shipper of record is, ANL is the responsible shipper while the package is in transit. This occurs because Argonne National Laboratory is in the shppers address. These shipments are regulated by the Department of Commerce, US Customs. When there is a problem with an international shipment it is US Customs who contacts the responsible shipper (ANL). If we have too many shipping issues US Customs can curtail the laboratories ability to ship internationally. Any letters that are sent internationally via FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. must also go through building 46. If you use the US Postal Service to send internationally then building 46 does not need to be the shipper. Please remember to send international shipments through ANL Shipping, Building 46. If you have any questions, please call me. Thank you, Bruce ps - If you receive this e-mail multiple times I appologize. I am using several mailing lists in the APS CAT HR Admin system.
