Welcome to the PNC/XOR Facility

PNC/XOR comprises both the bending magnet and undulator beamlines at Sector 20 of the Advanced Photon Source.

Research at our facility focuses primarily on spectroscopic  (XAFS, XRS, time-resolved) and microbeam (microprobe mapping, micro-XAFS, micro-Diffraction) applications of hard X-rays.

On this website, you should find here most, if not all of the information relevant to accessing and using the PNC/XOR beamlines. If you feel something is missing or is in need of further clarification, please contact us.

Beamline Announcements:

1.Deadline for GU Proposals for 2010-1 is Oct. 30, 2009. CDN requests are due Nov. 13. See Downloads for PNC request form.

2. XAFS Sample Preparation Facility is available in 435E030. See webpage for details.

3. MBE2 will be in position for run 2009-3. The 8-Circle diffractometer will be unavailable. Likely for 2010-1 as well.

4.  XOR/XSD Visitor Program established for prominent scientists to visit the APS for ~ 6 months and enrich the facility's scientific mission.
