Sector 1 Deformation Rig 2
- Maximum applied load = 2000 lb-force
- Loading is displacement controlled through:
- worm gear screw jack (Joyce/Dayton Co, WJ 201T)
- 20:1 gear reducer (Huber 2015)
- remotely-controlled stepper motor (Vexta 2phase, 3 Amp)
- Displacement resolution (with gear reducer, full step mode) = 0.0635 microns/step
- Compressive, bending and tensile modes possible.
- Load is measured with a load cell:
- mounted below the sample
- 200-500-1000-2000-3000 lb-rated cells are available
- Omega LCF series
- Strain is measured independently using either a strain gage or a clip-on extensometer
- Device can be mounted to stages below using 4 through-holes.
- Maximum sample rotation without blind spots ~140 degrees.
- The interior space is large enough to accomodate the sector1 IR furnace for thermo-mechanical loading.
- Device was designed by Mark Erdmann of the APS.
