IR furnaceInfrared (IR) furnace

Heating is achieved via infrared bulbs on two heating systems (model 5705, Research Inc). The heaters are typically canted to permit exit of diffracted intensity (this angle is small ~10-20 degrees when using high-energy x-rays).

The sample and a thermocouple are mounted on an alumina cylindrical post. A small tab on the post, near the sample position, has been machined in order to provide diffraction calibration.
