Beamline Configuration (click here for a beamline schematic)

1-ID-A is a first optics enclosure (FOE) which houses the front-end separation window, white-beam filter, white-beam slits, Kohzu double-crystal monochromator, white-beam stop, and monochromatic-beam shutter. The equipment in this station is permanent and, generally, does not change from experiment to experiment.

1-ID-B is an experimental station that can take either white beam or monochromatic beam from 1-ID-A. It can be used for experiments, but due to its relatively small size, it is most often used to condition the x-ray prior to transmission to 1-ID-C. The high-energy monochromator is located at the upstream end of 1-ID-B. The center of the 1-ID-B station is 36 m from the center of the ID straight section. Recent work has focused on conditioning the x-ray beam (focusing/reducing energy width) after the high-energy monochromator.

1-ID-C is the work horse experimental station on the 1-ID beamline. The center of this station is 60 m from the center of the ID straight section. The station is 7 m is length (along the beam path) and 4 m wide. Only monochromatic beam can be transmitted to 1-ID-C (the transport is offset 24 mm above the white beam).
