Workshop on Frontier Science Using Soft X-Rays at the APS
August 5-6, 2004, APS, Argonne, Illinois
Objectives
- Explore the broad applications of soft x-ray angle resolved photoemission to traditional and potentially new problems in condensed matter physics.
- Explore the broad application of soft x-ray scattering to problems in condensed matter physics and biology.
- Identify new scientific proposals/programs that the participants will bring to the APS during next 5 to 10 years. Also evaluate the capital and operational requirements for these proposals/programs to be successful.
- Examine existing beamline capabilities at the APS and define what future beamline capabilities would be desirable.
- Prepare a summary document for the archival literature to serve as a roadmap for the future of these fields utilizing the capabilities of the Advanced Photon Source.
