Mark Beno welcomed everyone to CAT Chat.
Operations Update, Mark Beno
During first run we were up and running for approximately 4 ¾ hours and only .8 hours were downtime. There was a bumpy start up due to the booster efficiency problems. The beam still looks good and there was only one failure during the run.
Safety: ESAFs, Edmund Chang
Inspections:
Sectors 4 and 11 inspections are scheduled for October. The Pressure Safety Assessments will begin this week and run through next week.
Machine Shops:
Please keep the doors closed when the machine shops are not in use.
Chemical Safety:
Paul Rossi sent out notifications about expired chemicals. Please respond, input is needed.
GUP System , Susan Strasser
There have been some changes to the GUP System. These changes will go into effect for the 2007-1 run. A handout was given and has been attached to this document. Some of the changes are listed below.

November 3rd is the date for proposal submissions. Please let Susan know if you would like to practice on the new GUP system.
Wireless Registration, Ken Sidorowicz
Everyone is required to register by filling out the form and submitting it on a weekly basis. This form can be found at the following link:
http://www.aps.anl.gov/APS_Engineering_Support_Division/
These registrations are filtered out on a weekly basis. All resident users and employees will need to submit a report request using your Mac address in order to receive a permanent registration. Please get this information out to the beamlines to avoid weekly registrations. You will find detailed instructions on the IT website.Closing Remarks, Mark Beno
John McLean would like to thank everyone for their participation in the Open House and he sends his apologies for any problems. APS was the best feature on site and we had a total of 18,000 visitors.Next Meeting
