PUC Meeting K. Randall: Kevin presented the following highlights on viewgraphs.
1296 Bunch Studies; Tuesday, July 20, 2004:
Time |
Status |
0600 - 0900 |
Machine Prep for 1296 bunch test - Sereno , Harkay , Sajaev , Decker et al. |
0900 - 1700 |
1296 bunch mode test with shutters open. Floor coordinator support required. |
Expected lifetime >100 hours
Bunch spacing 2.85 nanoseconds
Users: Jin Wang , 1BM; Dave Paterson, 2ID; Barry Lai, 2ID; Johnathan Lang, 4ID; John Quintana, 5; Didier Wermelle, 6ID; Eric Dufresne, 7ID; Klaus Attenkoffer, 11ID; Julie Cross, 20; Steve Wasserman, 31ID.
Interested (not in attendance): Jeff Terry (10); Tom Irving (18); Brian Stephanson
Observations from Run:
- Beam was stable
- Beam loss was due to vacuum trip
- Sector 2 and Sector 7 report increased count rate compared to 324 bunch
- No negative feedback from users
- Still waiting for response from everyone
- Lifetime was excellent (although not as high as a previous study period)
This is a big issue because optics alignment drifts as current falls
Expectation would be that current would drop to about 92 mA between 12 hour fills, compared to 80 mA in 324 bunch mode
Future:
- More studies periods
- Convert 1 (of the 3) 324 bunch periods to 1296
Safety B. Glagola: Informed group of users recent inability to make shipment from building 46 because the shipping papers were not completed properly. Hazardous material was found, amount was larger than small quantities allowed, and the package did not ship. Please remember when filling out the shipping order, to declare all items that you intend to ship.
Reminder to post all ESAFs before the experiment starts. If you need assistance, contact the floor coordinator.
OPS Directorate R. Klaffky: Roger reported the following suggestion from OPS directorate meeting that safety personnel organize a meeting to present laser safety within the next two to four weeks.
