We are approaching the end of machine studies. For the duration of studies, we will complete the rf conditioning and tuning to 100 mA. The beam position monitor timing system is now fully operational. The singlet bunch pattern will continue to be the same as the previous run until the new timing system is fully commissioned.
The State of Illinois EPA is now prohibiting the use of certain solvents used for cleaning (degreasing) activities with the following methods:
- Flushing, or immersion.
The regulation does NOT prohibit the use of these solvents for WIPE CLEANING.
The prohibition covers solvents having a vapor pressure greater than 1 mm Hg, such as:
- Methyl alcohol (methanol), VP = 96 mm Hg
- Ethanol alcohol (ethanol), VP = 43 mm Hg
- Isopropyl alcohol (2-propanol), VP = 32 mm Hg
The solvents that are currently excepted from the regulation are:
Acetone and methyl chloroform (1,1,1-trichloroethane)
We expect to receive further clarification and guidance on the implementation and will inform you immediately. If you have any questions, please contact B. Glagola at x-9797.
