Information and Follow-up Items
1. Regarding the x-ray bpm feedback system, has sector 14 been updated?
Sector 14 x-ray bpm electronics has been updated. A calibration will be required prior to including these bpms in the feedback loop.
2. In the past a system was to be developed by the ISI group informing users on the status of PSS parameters. Has this program been developed yet?
The development of the system continues. A more detailed discussion of this system will be provided at the next CAT CHAT.
Accelerator turn-on and machine studies are in progress until January 17, 2001. Beginning at 0800 hours of that day, user operations will start.
The fire alarm testing went very well.
During the switchgear maintenance for sectors 12 and 13, a LN2 valve failed to reopen. Because of this error, we have added more personnel to our notification system and will upgrade the program for the control logic to eliminate future faults.
Mohan Ramanathan discussed the x-ray bpm feedback system. Upgrades in the electronics are in progress to implement the x-ray bpms in the feedback loop. As such during the transition, the data from these x-ray bpm will not be reliable. Sectors 1, 2, 3, 4, 13, 14 have been upgraded this past shutdown. Sector 32, 33 and 34 were completed earlier. These upgraded x-bpms will need to be calibrated during the user run. Until the calibration is completed, we expect to use the rf bpm for orbit corrections.
