Issues that require action and/or follow-up
Some PSS revalidation took place on our sector recently. During that time no work could be done in these stations for approximately three days. Although we were informed of the activity, it would be useful to have a notice of these revalidation activities placed on the station itself.
Yes, that is a good suggestion. B. Ferry will address this issue.
APS Operational Status Update
On Saturday, the machine will be started. We will have one week of Machine Studies, with User Operations beginning at 0800 on March 9, 1998.
During the past two weeks, we have had some items missing from the Experiment Hall and the LOMs. We do not know whether they were misplaced or taken, but we have notified security. This is not a pleasant situation. We have a lot of equipment located on the hall floor. If we would implement a major security system for the floor, this would not be a very pleasant place for any of us to work. We must realize that those entering the facility have IDs allowing access, therefore we have to protect against ourselves, which is difficult. The situation is not rampant, but it has happened. We would like your suggestions on what can be done. Please e-mail G. Shenoy at firstname.lastname@example.org with your suggestions, or you can speak with the FCs.
