Issues that require action and/or follow-up

1. Sometimes before 0800 I do not seem to need to use my card in the LOM door reader. If I arrive later, say 0830, then I must use the card. This situation leads one to believe that the doors are only locked after 0800. What is the reason?

The doors are definitely locked around the clock. We will check into this.

2. Thank you very much for the link that permits remote operation of the Sector 5 beamlines. It is working great.

This is the cable that allows you to open and close your shutters remotely. Sector 5 agreed to test this capability. We will be distributing this on a priority basis to the other CATs. Please let your FC know if you would like to receive this capability.

3. For some strange reason, we (Sector 5) were not able to access our undulator. What was the cause?

For some odd reason, some of the undulator access links were working and some were not. The problem was related to the server and is being fixed.

4. At what point will you give us non-EPICS control of our undulators?

This is in the works, but please do not expect to receive the capability for another six months.

Information/Follow-up Items

APS Operational Status Update

We have had numerous problems with the machine since this start up. These problems remind us how important it is to learn more about the machine. None of the problems we had this week were a result of the maintenance or upgrades that were completed during the shutdown.

We have found a bug in the ID software. The effect is relatively minor and will not hinder operations. We will try to have it fixed early next week.

Information

I would like to remind you about the Structural Genomics Workshop that will be held here at ANL on the 24th and 25th of January. If you are interested, please see Susan Strasser (barr@aps.anl.gov) who has an agenda for the workshop.
