Meetings with Teams from White House and Secret Service
- Evaluated and toured areas where President could participate
- Secret Service conducted physical searches of areas, evaluating risks associated with the accelerator
- Communications Team identified places for equipment set-up
- Set-up began for lighting, sound, fencing, platforms for media, Presidential stage, etc.

Full set-up effort took place
- E-1200 Conf. Rm. set for Presidential Address in case of National Emergency
- Additional electrical power (480 V outlet) brought in to Conf. Rms. E-1100/1200 to accommodate NBC equipment
- Out-door and in-door stages set simultaneously in case of rain
- ~120 new Ameritech phone lines set by ANL Bell to accommodate all communication needs
- 8-ft. high walls temporarily constructed to minimize President's exposure when he entered Bldg. 401
- Five exhibits set for President's view (Five National Labs participated)

- Building Staff continued with final preparations
- 6:00 a.m.
- Secret Service began final sweep
- 9:40 a.m.
- President arrived at APS, viewed 5 exhibits, toured APS Main Control Room and Visitors Gallery
- 10:00 a.m.
- President Bush Delivered his Speech to ANL Employees
- 10:30 a.m.
- President Bush worked the rope line and greeted ANL employees
- 10:50 a.m.
- President Bush departed Bldg 401

- ~25 White House Team Staff were involved with this function
- ~75 Secret Service members were at APS
- Approximately 100 ANL staff participated in the preparations
