Travel and Housing Arrangements
Argonne National Laboratory is about 45 minutes by car from each of the two major Chicago airports, O'Hare and Midway (see map below). Limousine service is available from each airport, and major car rental agencies serve both airports. Limo reservations can be made by calling

The map also shows the major roadways serving the Chicago area. To reach Argonne from O'Hare Airport, drive east (toward Chicago) on Interstate 190 to the exit for Interstate 294 south (toward Indiana). Go south on Interstate 294 to the exit for Interstate 55 south (toward St. Louis); then take the southbound Cass Avenue exit (273A) off Interstate 55. Northgate Road, the entrance to the Laboratory's main gate is on the right. From Midway Airport, take Cicero Avenue north to the entrance to Interstate 55 south (toward St. Louis), which will be on your left, then proceed as described above.
The Argonne Guest House, located one block from the APS Conference Center, has been reserved for this meeting. Single rooms with queen-sized beds and double rooms with twin beds are available at special conference rates of $47.50 and $57.50.
A few rooms have also been reserved at the Baymont Inn, which is located near the intersection of Interstate-55 and Illinois Route 83 (see map at right). Rooms will be assigned as registrations are received. The cut-off date for hotel reservations at the special conference rate is September 28, 1998. After that date, rooms will be assigned on an "as-available" basis.
A shuttle bus will transport guests from the Baymont Inn on Tuesday-Thursday mornings to Argonne National Laboratory; the bus will return in the evening to the hotel. Bus service will also be provided from Argonne National Laboratory to the Mid-America Club in Chicago for the banquet on Tuesday, October 13, 1998.
