Construction Progress

Construction of the APS Conference Center remains on schedule, with completion expected well before the APS X-Ray Centennial Symposium, the Seventh Users Meeting for the APS, and SRI `95, all of which are planned for the week beginning October 16th. The central laboratory/office building (CLO) should also be finished by then.

Of the six lab/office modules (LOMs) to be built during the first phase of the APS construction project, 432 and 431 are already occupied by DND-CAT, SRI-CAT, and (temporarily) the APS User Office; 434 and 435 have been ready for beneficial occupancy since April; and 433 and 438 are targeted for beneficial occupancy in July and the fall, respectively.

Great strides have been made on construction of the user residence facility (URF) since the official groundbreaking ceremony on March 22 (see related story). Concrete for the first and second floors has been poured, and utility connections have been installed.
