Minor vertical beam motion
There is some minor vertical beam motion due to APS infield work. Stored beam orbit is well within its specifications. Thank You, Steven LaBuda Fri, 20 Apr 2012 10:29:37 intention to change fill intervals
In the past three days, we've observed a beam instability that occurs about 10 hours after a fill to 100 mA, when the beam has decayed to about 88 mA. The instability manifests as a drop in lifetime (from 70 hours to <10 hours), a jump in emittance of more than 10%, and an increase in coupling to 2~3%. So far, we haven't found a way to suppress the instability, which seems related to vacuum in the S37 area (probably from the relatively new scraper). The most expedient way to solve this problem is to fill every 8 hours instead of every 12. This will keep us above the current at which the instability occurs. If there are any issues with this, please contact me ASAP. --Michael Borland borland at aps.anl.gov Fri, 20 Apr 2012 08:09:49 Shutter permit enable 102mA of stored beam.
On 20 April 2012 at 08:07 shutter permit has been enabled and there is 102mA of stored beam. Fri, 20 Apr 2012 08:01:47 Stored beam Lost

We are experiencing increased storage ring emittance and coupling due to RF vacuum issues. The emittance has increased to 3.48nm. The coupling has increased to 1.6%. These issues will be resolved with the morning fill. Thu, 19 Apr 2012 20:05:55 SR beam instability subsided at 19:50
SR beam instability subsided at 19:50 when the fill on fill to 102mA was performed. Instability started at 17:58 earlier today, when the stored beam decayed to ~87mA. Thu, 19 Apr 2012 18:34:03 SR beam instability issue
SR beam instability started at 17:58 on 4/19/12 with ~87mA remaining stored beam. It caused SR coupling to climb up steadily from 1.2% to ~2.4% as of 18:30. SR beam decay rate has gone up. Operations is investigating and monitoring the situation. Wed, 18 Apr 2012 15:51:39 IOC reboot complete at 15:48

The power supply group has been called in to repair the Booster kicker Sun, 15 Apr 2012 16:16:05 (no subject)
Top up has been aborted at ~16:14 due to a injector magnet trip. Top up should resume @ ~16:30 Thu, 12 Apr 2012 02:46:06 Unusual beam motion in both planes. In-Reply-To:
Unusual beam motion in both planes from ~02:28 to ~02:43 was most likely caused by an earthquake in the Gulf of California. Wed, 11 Apr 2012 10:21:56 excessive RMS beam motion from 09:51 to 10:01 on 4/11/12 In-Reply-To:
Excessive RMS beam motion from 09:51 to 10:01 was possibly caused by infield work in Bldg. 400A area. After discussing with Randy Flood (ASD-AOP) and George Doktorczyk (AES-SO), the portion of infield work which causes beam motion may be postponed until next machine studies.
