Interests
- My research interests predominately lie in the physics and chemistry of lower dimensional systems. My aim has been to understand the effects that the reduced dimensionality of a surface or interface has on a system's time evolution, dynamics, structure and reactivity.

Goals
- I have been involved with GeoSoilEnviroCARS (GSECARS) since securing initial funding over 13 years ago. GSECARS is a national user facility for research in the earth sciences using synchrotron radiation at the Advanced Photon Source. In this position I have had the opportunity to work with many scientists from around the world that come to the APS as users. This experience has allowed me to understand the needs of users and what they require to produce exciting science. Working at many synchrotrons around the world has helped me better understand the challenges that facilities face from the scientific / technical to the political. If elected my goals are to bring the needs of APS users to the attention of the APS administration and work to make this facility a great place to do science.
