Routine Business:

Steve Durbin, APSUO Chair, opened the meeting by thanking the outgoing members and welcoming the newcomers. The minutes from the last APSUO Steering Committee meeting were reviewed by the group and accepted as written.

Durbin asked Paul Zschack to continue to serve as the Washington liaison for the APSUO and continue to keep on top of issues important to the group. He also asked that Zschack and Susan Strasser advise him on the formal obligations of the APSUO Steering Committee Chair to better prepare him for taking on this job. One of the many responsibilities for the Steering Committee Chair is to be an ex officio member on the Partner User Council and the Scientific Advisory Committee.

Murray Gibson brought the group up to speed on the call for Short Proposals due on June 1, 2003, as well as on the call for General User Proposals (GUP) for the fall run. These GUPs are due on August 1, 2003. Gibson reminded the group that the XOR sectors (1?4) will allow 50% of time for general user time.

Durbin said that a vice-chair will be elected at the next APSUO Steering Committee Meeting. This person will be in charge of planning the 2004 User Meeting to be held in the April*May 2004 timeframe. Denny Mills advised that the vice-chair will also be in the loop in the General User Proposal Program.

The next APSUO Steering Committee Meeting will be held on July 22, 2003.
