Rigorously fulfill all requirements of APS RSS Procedure and APS Design Review Procedure.
Fully document designs and procedures, including compliance with design codes, and integrate ICMS into all XFE work activities.
Provide uninterrupted operation of the RF mechanical systems, provide immediate and effective response to any interruption of operation, and identify and correct the root causes of problems affecting reliable RF system Mechanical operation.
Design and build spare components for the RF mechanical systems including couplers, and tuners.
Provide all required engineering support for the maintenance and upgrade of the APS accelerator, including support for the APS Renewal Project.
Provide timely and effective support for APS beamlines with novel and innovative designs of beamline components and experimental apparatus.
Support XOR beamline upgrades
Design, fabricate, and assemble the S1-ID Phase 2 beamline upgrade as funding is available.
Complete the Phase I upgrade of 32ID.
Complete the design of the S12-ID beamline upgrade and fabricate and assemble and install as funding is available.
Complete the design of a side bounce monochrometer for sector 12 and fabricate or procure it as funding is available.
Complete the design and installation of the nanoprobe beamline.
Provide engineering for the upgrade of sector 11.
Provide engineering support of the design of the IEX beamline.
Provide engineering support for the development of other approved XOR beamline upgrade plans.
Complete the fabrication, assembly, and installation of low vibration water systems for sectors, as required.
Complete the beamline layout and ray trace drawings for 30% of all XOR beamlines and begin the collection and updating of layout and ray tracing drawings of the non-XOR beamlines.
Provide engineering support for research on XOR Research beamlines including thermal analysis, vibration analysis, and mechanical design.
Provide timely and effective on-call support for accelerator vacuum problems.
Complete the design, development, testing, and production of all of the components of the Picosecond Timing Straight Section including crab cavities, ID VC, and, cooling systems.
Develop new insertion device vacuum chambers, and front ends that extend the capabilities of APS beamlines.
Design and fabricate a new ID VC for the Picosecond Timing FE in Sector 7 straight section.
Fabricate, procure, and install the S12 canted undulator FE.
Perform R&D to develop very high heat load front end components for the future APS.
Provide R&D, engineering, and design in support of the development of 4th generation x-ray sources.
Complete the design of the undulator mover system and award the production contract.
Provide undulator vendor oversight.
Provide engineering support for the continuation of the Single and Two Undulator Test.
Contribute to the design of the ID VC for LCLS.
Complete the mechanical design of the LCLS RFBPMs.
